Tokopedia Strategy Encourages Logistics Equalization in Indonesia

Logistics

Logistics is important for various sectors in Indonesia. In fact, today the business world can not be separated from the role of logistics.

However, the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic presents its own challenges for the logistics sector in the country. Digitalization continues to be launched so that the logistics sector can survive. It is also a concern of various companies, including Tokopedia.

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago with more than 17,500 islands, connectivity is becoming a huge obstacle, inequality in the distribution of goods and opportunities between big cities and small towns is inevitable.

With Tokopedia’s mission to encourage digital economic equality, logistics challenges are an opportunity for us to contribute to the logistics sector in Indonesia by presenting smart warehouses, TokoCabang so that everyone can enjoy the same access and opportunities wherever they are.

Established since 2019, Erwin explained through TokoCabang, sellers can leave their product stock in facilities available in these areas. In this case, it will help incoming orders, package orders, to submit them to the delivery courier.

Through this smart warehouse service, Tokopedia strives to be able to help MSMEs increase revenue and quality of service, and reduce postage costs for buyers because they can be shipped faster and closer.

Established since 2019, TokoCabang has now operated in 6 major cities namely Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, Palembang and Medan with shipping coverage throughout Indonesia. The presence of TokoCabang has also helped businesses to sell offline or operate when there are restrictions on activities.

During the pandemic the number of orders in TokoCabang increased almost 3-fold when compared to the second quarter in 2020. The presence of TokoCabang helps sellers to remain able to operate optimally so that buyers can still get the goods they need during a pandemic,

One example, last year, one of Indonesia’s largest book bazaars, Big Bad Wolf, which was previously held offline, migrated to online channels and received a very positive response from the public.

In April 2021, Erwin said Tokopedia also launched the Free Ongkir Extra feature so that all goods shipped from TokoCabang warehouses will get free ongkir with a delivery speed of 1-2 days to various cities throughout Indonesia. Through this feature, sellers can reach a wider market.

Not only that, Tokopedia technology also continues to develop tools and analytics that can help sellers grow their business. Through this tool, sellers can also continue to maintain the ideal stock level so as not to lose potential sales.

Through TokoCabang, of course, we will continue to work to help sellers grow their business. In terms of infrastructure, to support the development of the seller business in Tokopedia, we continue to increase our warehouse capacity in the cities we operate.
